It’s 2009

And I can’t bake! I guess some things don’t change, or at least not just at the turn of a new year, oh well.

I figured I’d bake some chocolate cupcakes to bring in the new year. They turned out alright… as in they’re edible. But they aren’t perfect like ones my sis bakes.

But I will give myself points for creativity. I made them oh-so-very-very chocolatey that the batter looked quite like something Nigella would mix up. I put in an equal amount of cocoa to flour and added in a ton of chunky chocolate chips. Oh and I topped it off with melted marshmallows. Did I mention that I have a sweet tooth?

Besides that, I gave into my coffee addiction. Yep, that’s me for you. While everyone else makes new year resolutions and tries to stick to them for the 1st of Jan at least, I do the converse. I don’t make new year resolutions and I mend the bad habit I just broke.

My coffee addiction was pretty serious. I couldn’t get through the day if I didn’t have my morning mug of piping hot coffee. I’d turn into a blubbering slob and my brain would refuse to work. Perhaps it was a mentally conditioned condition. Anyhow it wasn’t good.

But that isn’t half of the problem. What really urged me give up coffee was the head aches. If I didn’t have caffeine in my blood, I’d get a throbbing mind numbing head ache that could only be cured by my diabolical coffee concoction. I had to give it up. So two months back I substituted it with tea. A weak substitute but… a substitute nonetheless!

Of course my coffee is a tad extreme. I just tip the jar of instant coffee over my mug till I get juuuust the right shade of brown, which is quite dark.

So today I had a mug of coffee. And it was soooooooooo GOOOOOOD! I miss coffeeeeeee. Need. Coffee. Must. Have. Coffee.

I think I’ve unleashed a monster.  But… but… coffee tastes sooooo gooooood. And it just intensifies my senses. It makes me feel alive!!! I love coffee!

Besides that, I’ve actually freed my guitar from the confines that “he” had been tucked away in for the past year. I roughly wiped off the dust and cobwebs off the gig bag (I kid you not about the cobwebs) and sniffed my guitar. Yes, I sniff my guitar. Well at least I don’t eat glue or throw peanuts at old ladies! Oh wait… *adds ‘pelt old ladies with peanuts’ on her Things To Do list).

It’s lost that fresh woody smell that I love so much. While I play it now I get a faint haunting whiff of that heady woody smell, sigh.

When I got my guitar, what I really wanted was an electric guitar. But my music instructor insisted that it was better to start off with an acoustic guitar (which is absolute drivel). So I picked out the only acoustic guitar that stood out in the store which was ultra-sexy-smoking-hot and was sure I was on my way to rocking!

One teensy weensy prob though… the dude started me off on lame-o stuff! I learnt a few chords and a couple of songs and then lost interest.

Later I was told there are easy rock songs to start out on but I didn’t have the time to practice. Now however, I do.

And I intend to finally learn to play the instrument! I love my guitar and I’m going to learn how to play it even if I split my thumb and my fingers bleed!!!

Now if I could only find someone who’d tune it for me… :P

Besides that, I’ve changed the appearance of my blog. It’s so me!!! Morbid, quirky and ultra cool (yeah, I’ve got a terrible ego).

  7. http://www.justinguitar.com/en/AA-000-LessonIndex.php

^ QUITE a helpful site for learning the basics, the lessons have youtube videos as well (:

and there are online tuners http://www.chordbook.com/guitartuner.php
as well as programs e.g. AP Tuner(which I use)

AP Tuner basically uses the mic to pick up the notes and shows you what you’re playing so you can adjust the tuners accordingly

there’s even a youtube lesson that covers Stairway to Heaven from head to toe (on the Justin Guitar site I linked above)… takes about 45 minutes to go through it… (:

  8. Ooooooooooooooooooh thanks! :D

Will check it out right away!
