Graffiti and Other Pictures

Graffiti. The stuff we have in Sri Lanka ranges from school boys defaming other schools on random walls or spraying the name of their ex-girlfriends on walls and following it up with an expletive. Yeah, over here cans of spray paint are used for vandalism, revenge and defamation. Nothing pretty.

But cities across the world, even our neighbour—India, have pretty neat graffiti. While there is the commissioned work, which is usually mindblowing, there’s the graffiti that is basically vandalism but actually quite good in terms of art. You can appreciate that stuff; you wouldn’t have the heart to paint over it, and sometimes they’ve got inspiring messages. Here’s some of the graffiti I caught on camera while moseying around Toronto a few weeks ago.

Just a bit past the Ontario Art Museum

Just out of Downtown

Suburbs of Ontario

Seen in Chinatown. Uploaded because it was cute!

I haven’t had the time to write a proper blog post about my much needed vacation. So I’ve uploaded a bunch of pictures from my trip to London and Toronto, below. Had a super time with relatives and sightseeing. Was fed till I almost burst; since it’s summer there were a variety of berries available at the local market and I went on a berry-craze indulgence. Apart from that my uncle insisted I was too thin and put me on a diet of ice cream and chocolate.

Hopefully, the pictures sum up the holiday. (They were too heavy to upload individually so I packed them together. Click and enlarge to see them better).
