Because I said so

It’s one of my dark little secrets that only a VERY few people know about. But I’m going to share it with you anyway, I happen to be a sucker for romantic comedies!

That felt liberating! I’m out of my sucker-for-romantic-comedies closet! (Now… That’s a mouthful!)

They just make you feel good! And they have the propensity to fill you up with that false sense of hope. Hope that love does exist… That it isn’t a mere mythical construct that people have been deluding themselves with since it was conceived (obviously by some sadists)!

Disregarding the bit that it is “false hope”, it does make me feel light and happy at the end of the movie.

My favourite movie so far would have to be You’ve Got Mail. It’s timeless. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks seem to share such profound chemistry in the movie, and Tom Hanks makes such incredible gestures… Oh boy… I’m beginning to feel like a soppy romantic!!

K… maybe I’ll admit to being a bit romantic. Maybe under the thick metal exterior that’s been coated in a dark shade of morbidity and cynicism, is a little solitary human heart thumping away behind the bars of it’s confinement.

GAH! Why do I do that?!!!!!! This post is about a movie I just watched! So what I’ve been trying to say is, I can take cliched-ness of these movies BUT one movie proved to be an exception! ‘Because I said so’ makes it apparent in such away that you can actually feel it hit you square in the face!

From the script and the story to how the hero gets the girl, the movie is nothing short of an obnoxious cliche.

And this coming from me certainly says something about the movie.

It didn’t fill my tummy with butterflies and make me grin like a manic Cheshire cat…

It’d give it a 1 1/2 star rating.
